The University of South Dakota has provided support for all 73 years of the BHP existence and employs the Executive Director. The BHP, in turn, employs professionals and students from USD, as well as takes arts education programs to kids statewide through the Dakota Players outreach, potentially inspiring future Coyotes to study the arts in South Dakota.

Jack and Ruth Cannon were longtime supporters of the BHP and Jack, for many years, wrote reviews of shows in the Rapid City Journal about our plays. They carried on support after their passing by setting up an endowment fund at the South Dakota Community Foundation that
provides funds for our artistic programs annually.

Support is provided with funds from the State of South Dakota, through the Department of Tourism and the National Endowment for the Arts. Please consider advocating for funding of the NEA as it makes incredible artistic programs available to people across our nation through operating support.

cabins complete with a very private hot tub. The Powder House has been a regular stop on people’s way to the Playhouse for years.

Cute, retro-feel coffee shop in Keystone between Subway and Dairy Queen. Excellent rating on
TripAdvisor for great customer service, great food and beverages. Owner David Holmgren and his
husband Jesus Roman own the coffee shop, Dairy Queen and Subway. The BHP company looks
forward to weekly ice cream treats delivered to the campus courtesy of Dairy Queen and Holy Terror
coffee is featured in our snack bar!

Fennell Design, Inc. has a solid reputation for its ability to handle complex, multi-phased projects
that allow building operations to continue throughout the construction process. With an extensive
background in construction and construction management, Gene Fennell, was integral in the
rebuilding of the BHP in 2011.

Custer State Park encompasses 71,000 acres of spectacular terrain and an abundance of wildlife
offering a world of adventure and fun, family activities including the Black Hills Playhouse. The park

Built in 1886 as the Harney Peak Hotel, this historic landmark, with its reputation for fine dining,
became the showplace of Hill City. Family owned & operated for over 3 decades, the Alpine
Inn carries on this tradition. The Alpine Inn has been noted in several national & international
