Operational Support

We are grateful for our friends and support provided.

Jack & Ruth Cannon Memorial Fund

Jack and Ruth Cannon were longtime supporters of the BHP and Jack, for many years, wrote reviews of shows in the Rapid City Journal about our plays. They carried on support after their passing by setting up an endowment fund at the South Dakota Community Foundation that provides funds for our artistic programs annually. Interested in investing in the BHP through an endowment? Contact Linda Anderson at 605 255-4910 for more information.

Support is provided with funds from the State of South Dakota, through the Department of Tourism and the National Endowment for the Arts. The Black Hills Playhouse is on both the Artist in Schools & Communities and Touring Arts rosters which provide arts experiences for communities statewide.

The University of South Dakota has provided support for all 74 years of the BHP's existence and employs the Executive Director. The BHP, in turn, employs professors and students from USD, and takes arts education programs to kids statewide through Dakota Players touring outreach and summer performing arts camps, potentially inspiring future Coyotes to study the arts in South Dakota.
