We are super excited to announce that the Black Hills Playhouse is planning a 2021 Summer Season in Custer State Park!
We surveyed patrons to see under what circumstances they would feel comfortable attending shows next summer. Staff and some very talented BHP alums went to work brainstorming ideas and on October 17th, the Black Hills Playhouse Board of Directors approved a plan to create a new outdoor performing space with socially distanced seating, plenty of fresh air, and shade structures.
We all need something to look forward to and we will be announcing the shows soon.
Thanks to our generous donors, the BHP was able to pivot many of our programs to online experiences in 2020. From the Virtual Tatanka Teaser, Zoom Away Camp for kids, to the children's performance of X Is For Zebra, we worked to connect people with theatre in new ways. Currently artists are working with nine group homes that serve people with disabilities, rehearsing a show that will be recorded and broadcast over zoom. Artists are also preparing to work to do a 5 week virtual Zoom Camp as part of an afterschool program where kids will work on acting, movement, and technical challenges. Kids need art more than ever and YOUR support has made it all possible this year.
Because our donors are fierce, we are changing the name of Friends of the BHP to Guardians of the BHP. Our guardians are warriors who believe in the positive force of the BHP and support it year in and year out. Our donors, volunteers, and staff are a group of can-do folks who know that we can overcome almost anything if we work together.
We hope we can count on you.
This year we need our Guardians more than ever to make the 2021 Season happen. Your investment of any size now will help us plan, prepare, and persevere. You are what makes us brave and strong. Guardians of the BHP Unite!
With gratitude and optimism,
Linda & Dan
