Shakespeare & Musical Theatre
for youth 8th through 12th grades
Performing arts training integrated into the natural beauty of the Black Hills! Artists-in-training will learn theatre techniques, explore stage movement and choreography, music, and rehearse in preparation for a high-spirited performance for friends & family. Campers will field trip to the Playhouse to learn from seasoned theatre professionals. Kids will enjoy campfires and games, relax and unplug, and explore the outdoors.

The Show: I Hate Shakespeare!*
We hate Shakespeare! At least that’s what the audience thinks until they get a rip-roaring rundown of Shakespeare’s classics. With zombies, talking cows, and an appearance by Jerry Springer, I Hate Shakespeare! is a hilarious and fast-paced introduction to Shakespeare--with a modern twist.

Performing arts through the looking glass
for youth 5th through 7th grades
Lewis Carroll’s literary classic, Alice in Wonderland explores themes of “growing up.” Kids entering 5th through 7th grade will use performance to communicate ideas and feelings, practice creative skills, and rehearse and perform for an on-site showcase. Students will observe professional theatre at the Black Hills Playhouse and attend a performance. The week will end with a walking play in nature performed by participants for family and friends, based on the themes in Alice in Wonderland! Kids will enjoy campfires and games, relax and unplug, and explore the outdoors.
