Year End Giving Tips

Strengthen the BHP this season with a year end gift

As we prepare to bring 2021 to a close, we know year-end giving is on the minds of many — we are incredibly grateful for the gifts the BHP has already received. To support what you may still be considering, we share the following giving tips:

Donations are most needed to support artistic programs and to complete our 2021 Capital project to replace siding, reroof, and insulate the theater in Custer State Park.

Online gifts via credit card are the most convenient way to support the BHP in the final weeks of December, as you will receive a timely receipt via email.

Checks will be processed and receipted based on the envelope postmark date. If the check does not arrive in a postmarked envelope, it will be processed on the date it is received. Checks may be sent to: BHP, PO Box 2513, Rapid City, SD  57709.

By phone Call us at 605 255-4141 and we can take your credit card information for a donation over the phone.

We work with the USD Foundation to receive donations of stock. Stock transactions will continue to be processed and receipted according to the date the shares are transferred into the USD Foundation. Stock will need to be transferred into the USD Foundation account before 3 p.m. on December 31 to be credited by year-end. Please see stock transfer instructions HERE.

•Donors may wish to use IRA funds to make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD). The QCD is available up to $100,000 for individuals who are over age 70½.

Every gift strengthens and preserves the BHP!

AN INCREDIBLE MATCH OPPORTUNITY -- Double Your Impact Now Through 12/31

Dear Patron,

As you already are aware, it has been a challenging year for all of us.  The performing arts have been inordinately impacted by the pandemic with the inability of people to gather because of COVID 19.  Thankfully, owing to excellent financial management, diligence on the part of the board and staff, plus the generosity of many of our patrons, the Black Hills Playhouse has managed to weather the storm. We’re gearing up for our 2022 season as you read this and can’t wait to get back into the theatre!

Despite the challenges, we’re happy to share the news that we’ve just received matching gifts to from Eileen Rossow and Deborah Kuehn totally $20,000 to support our fund-raising efforts to help close out the On Our Side Siding, Insulation, & Roofing campaigns.

Please see the case statement for our siding and insulation project, which will preserve the Warren M. Lee Theatre by strengthening the structure and insulating the building for the first time in its history! This will not only save significant dollars annually by making the building more energy-efficient, but also make the seating areas and backstage much more comfortable. We’re sure many alums have “fond” memories of the sweltering backstage at the Playhouse.

Remember, your donation is 100% tax-deductible.  The tax i.d. for the Black Hills Playhouse is 46-0215866. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE as your donation or pledge needs to be received by December 31st in order to be eligible for a federal tax benefit.

We know that you’re asked to give by many organizations. Won’t you please consider making your donation TODAY to help us make our match? Thank you again for all of the ways you show your support for the Black Hills Playhouse. Questions?  Contact Linda Anderson @ linda@blackhillsplayhouse.com or 605 939-5271.
